Day one

Wow! It sure has been an adventure! Yesterday we didn't arrive into Managua until 11:00 at night. Our plane was delayed an hour and 26 minutes due to electrical problems and then a fuel pump problem. On top of that I ended slipping in our hotel and scrapped my elbow quite nicely, but I'm ok. Today we visited Fe y Algeria which is a school in Managua. It was quite an experience to see the classrooms and meet some of the students. After that we had a lovely lunch at the Center for Global Education. It was  very delicious! After lunch we went to the city dump and learned about NicaHope which helps students stay in school by making money off jewelry they make and sell. Of course I bought some and it was way more than I would have ever paid for jewelry usually, but it went to an amazing cause. I HIGHLY recommend you check out NicaHope!

The computer here is very slow so I opted to connect to wifi and blog from my phone. Don't worry, my phone is in airplane mode. No data charges here! Because of this I can't upload pictures that I have taken, so I will upload them when I get back home.

Well, I'm quite exhausted and it's about dinner time. I hope y'all are doing well and I'll update you tomorrow.

Much love,

Whitney
